IS FACEBOOK TAKING OVER? THE ANSWER IS YES.

Hiya, everyone. We’re going to stay smiling and cheery and act as if Facebook isn’t slowly taking over our lives. From rolling out their latest Craiglist competitor, to three new features launched in the last month (see below) + a strikingly distracting CEO dressed as a VIKING—Facebook is on the up and up. But never fear, we stay updated so you don’t have to.

“Vote, err’body!”  —Sincerely, Facebook

Although the only seemingly political things about Facebook are hyper-extreme opinions and avoiding your mother, the social media giant has become particularly civic-minded lately.

This last Friday, a feature was added to Facebook that explains what’s on your upcoming ballot and where the candidates stand (side note—have you voted yet?). The cool thing? Facebook shows the candidates for both the national and the state elections, and users can easily see local issues and candidates by submitting their addresses. BOOM. We know it’s hard to remember, but this election is about more than the presidency.

But since that’s fairly important, Facebook also allows you to endorse a candidate or issue, which can be shared to display publicly, or it can be private—and that’s applicable because just maybe you don’t want to share your presidential pick, but you’d like to publicly back a congressional candidate or a ballot initiative. YOU CAN. To get started with Facebook’s new feature, head here

Fun fact: Facebook has been super involved in the 2016 election so far—they’ve helped more than 2 million people register to vote through a campaign on the app, and will continue to encourage people to vote as Election Day approaches.

Facebook’s rolling out their own Snapchat.

Sorry, not sorry. Do you, Facebook.

Facebook introduced Masks this past week, inserting the feature into the main app through a new camera toggle.

Users can choose to privately share photos (with filters, obviously), too. For those (lucky?) enough to be a part of the test, a new camera icon will appear in the top corner of the app, where Messenger is now. But no worries, the navigation is identical to Snapchat, so you won’t have any issues learning how to use it.

Your safety is Facebook’s top priority

Bravo, Facebook. No matter where you live, it just got a bit safer to be a Facebook user. Cyber-bullying IS REAL. So, to combat the use of Facebook for cyberbullying, the platform relaunched their Safety Center, a toolkit that works to bring comprehensive tools to users to address bullying and promote safe sharing.

The toolkit is available in more than 50 languages, expanding the Safety Center’s reach since its initial launch in 2010. In addition, Facebook is partnering with more than SIXTY nonprofits to help share the news about the revamped Safety Center to its 1.7 billion users. Knowing that the internet can oftentimes be a dangerous and cruel place, the redesigned Safety Center is meant to help create a social media platform that embraces self-expression and ensures a safe and welcoming community for all users. Let’s take a moment and applaud that, real quick.

And there you go. Facebook on Facebook on Facebook. The next thing you know, we’re going to be filing our taxes through Facebook, and will only have three apps on our phones— Facebook, Settings and that weird Stocks app. Who knows what the future holds?
