Help Out in Hurricane Ida Recovery Efforts

Resources for rebuilding in the Gulf Coast

This weekend, Hurricane Ida landed as a category 4 storm, ravaging much of Louisiana and Mississippi. Together, the Gulf Coast will come together as a community to take care of its own and in the effort to start that rebuilding process for our friends, family and neighbors, here are organizations and resources to aid those impacted by Ida.

Financial Giving + Volunteer Work

The following organizations are all nonprofits who are on ground providing relief efforts. Please be sure to look into these organizations directly, as their needs may be monetary or supplies-based.

Second Harvest Food Bank
The Second Harvest Food Bank, in their own words, “leads the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response.” They are currently accepting donations to help provide emergency aid and food resources to those impacted.

CrowdSource Rescue
CSR emerged out of Hurricane Harvey and has gone on to facilitate in other recovery and rescue efforts in the region by connecting first-responders and vetted volunteers with response cases, and they are up and operating for those impacted by Ida. The Black Sheep Agency has already donated $500 towards their efforts.

TX Relief Warriors
TX Relief Warriors will be making a trip to Louisiana today with necessary emergency supplies but will be looking for both volunteers and financial contributions to keep the supplies coming.

Cajun Navy
The Cajun Navy is actively aiding in relief and rescue efforts in Louisiana and elsewhere. Being entirely volunteer led, they can always use financial help to facilitate this necessary work and will be posting requests for supplies to help with clean-up efforts.

World Central Kitchen

WCK, founded by @chefjoseandres in 2010, is on the ground and ready to start serving those who need to eat. Their food truck will begin food service at lunch today and donations will be used to service community during this crisis.

United Houma Nation

The United Houma Nation is the 3rd largest state-recognized tribe located in Louisiana, with over 19,000 proud tribal citizens around the world with a unique history. They are providing aid and assistance to those in need.

Southern Smoke

Southern Smoke is here to help anyone within the food and beverage industry with emergency financial aid. Applications for aid can be found at their website.

Mutual Aid

These mutual aid funds are not like traditional 501(c)3s as they are often community organized and led. We encourage any potential financial contributions to be researched beforehand and also believe that giving between individuals is a way for communities to find support during critical times.

Mutual Aid Louisiana

Mutual Aid Louisiana is focused on fundraising directly for folks in need of aftermath assistance and is serving families throughout the state.

Imagine Water Works

Imagine Water Works is reimagining the future through art, science, and connection, centered around the focus areas of water, climate, readiness/response, and mutual aid.

Donation Drives

MML Hospitality Group
As one of the leading hospitality groups in the region, MML is hosting donation drives in Austin to be distributed in Louisiana. Essential items include batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies and masks.

While this is by no means a comprehensive list, it is a start—and we plan to update with more resources as they become available. Please share far and wide, give where you can and keep your hearts directed towards the Gulf Coast.
