Register to Vote Faster Than Leslie Knope
Voting is insanely important and yes—every vote definitely counts. But before you vote, you have to be registered. Today isNational Voter Registration Day and we are #blessed to be living in a world where we are always connected and where getting things done is easier than ever.
Pick up your phone to check your snaps or jump from your email to your Facebook and you’ll see more than just a few reminders and new ways to get your registration confirmed and ready to go. To make things even simpler—we’ve compiled a list of all of the different ways social media is here to support your voter registration dreams (and make sure you follow #VoteHou).
Snapchat
In a partnership with voter registration app TurboVote, Snapchat is jumping into the political landscape to make the entire registration process easier for first-time voting Gen Z’ers and convenience-hungry Millennials. TurboVote is pushing videos to Snapchat’s Stories and Discover pages where the most fun celebrities (yeah, Rock, we are totally talking about you) encourage you to swipe it up to get to the registration page.
Facebook
Facebook launched a bucket full of posts to remind people to register while directing them straight to vote.usa.gov. Once the path to registration is complete, people can earn some flair for their Facebook updates that lets people know they’ve done their part (well, the first part—the second being to VOTE).
Google
While Google isn’t a social network, it is providing easy-to-find and easy-to-understand information. Searching a variety of queries that have anything to do with how to register to vote will result in a ton of information on the how-to, the requirements and deadlines. The easy-to-digest information is empowering and includes follow-up information on how to actually vote when the big day comes.
Twitter
Twitter Government is promoting the hashtag #iRegistered with a rather patriotic emoji to assist. Tons of celebs in conjunction with Rock The Vote are tweeting and tagging to help drive people to brag about their registration status. Their approach serves as a strong nudge to take action.
YouTube
The video giant has launched a registration and voting specific campaign cleverly titled #VoteIRL. Once again, another social channel looking to light a fire in the hearts of Millennials and do whatever they can to ensure the group is registered and using their civic voice.
Extra, extra!
Two brand new attempts are on the scene this year with the idea that registering to vote can happen in a simple one-to-one communication. If you aren’t sure about whether or not you are registered in your state, simply text 384387 and get started. You can also fire up Facebook Messenger and send a note to HelloVoteand be walked through the entire process.
This list simply proves that you have zero excuses to not be registered to vote. Every corner of the internet is ready for you to take that step and to make your voice heard. Register. Educate yourself. Vote.
