Account Coordinator Job Description
We're looking to grow by adding an Account Coordinator to the flock. In a nutshell, as Account Coordinator at Black Sheep, you will support the accounts team in all project management efforts and the development of strategies and creative deliverables. As an Account Coordinator, you’ll have an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the agency and support roles across the agency which will expose you to a lot of variety that can shape your career future. You will work with all agency teams and be an integral member in ensuring work happens seamlessly because you love the idea of being organized and making things run smoothly. This is a role with a lot of process management and administration which supports every other function of the agency. You are located in Houston (or close to) and will manage a hybrid WFH/in-office work schedule.
What does that mean for your day-to-day? You will be…
- Gathering and understanding project requirements
- Organizing and distributing project materials, documents and assets
- Owning timely project communications and scheduling of tasks as determined by the Account Director or Account Manager
- Assisting in the creation and maintenance of project plans and demonstrating a cohesive understanding of deliverables, tasks, dependencies, staff resourcing and agency processes
- Serving as a liaison and relationship nurturer between Black Sheep and outside vendors such as web and video partners, ensuring continuity, timeliness and accuracy of all projects
- Drafting content and assisting in research for strategy and creative services
- Approaching every day with a whatever-it-takes mentality, considering no task too small or job too big because it gives you a chance to learn and grow and make your clients and teammates feel supported
Why is this role important for Black Sheep’s work?
As a cause-driven agency, our ideas have to be big and drive even bigger results for our clients. The resources our clients dedicate to us could go directly to the individuals they serve, so it’s crucial that we are efficient in everything we do and return on that investment in spades. Your role will directly impact the level of return we are able to provide our clients.
Job Requirements
While it’s hard to define the exact experience necessary, we are hoping to find someone that meets the requirements below—or someone who can prove to us their experiences are equal to or outweigh what we have outlined.
- This is an entry-level job, and relevant experience in which you have engaged in project management, been exposed to different areas of marketing including digital, written for brand initiatives and met aggressive deadlines is a plus

- Strong, concise, creative writing skills
- Advanced communication skills, including both written (documents and presentations) and interpersonal communication skills
- Confidence and poise to communicate with clients and stakeholders
- Ability to handle managing 8-10 projects simultaneously, while maintaining your cool
Key Areas of Mastery
- Own processes with extreme attention to detail: Mastering all Black Sheep tools and systems while helping execute large-scale strategies and creative campaigns, making things run with ease and efficiency by leveraging in-place agency processes.
- Communicate with ease and intention: Anticipate the needs of the teams you’re supporting and think three steps ahead to ensure everyone on the team has the information they need.
- Be flexible and teachable: Learn new skills and grow in your ability every day. Each project and task you take on is an opportunity to demonstrate thoughtfulness and understanding of feedback. Exhibit a desire to learn and prove that you are committed to becoming better at your craft every day.
Open-Book Management and Bonus Compensation
From the inception of Black Sheep, we've made a conscious effort to always keep people as the central focus of our growth strategy. As a team we practice open-book management and huddle weekly to discuss our financial trajectory. We pay out quarterly bonuses to the team based on specified quarterly agency targets. Team members are currently averaging 12% of their annual salary in bonus annually with potential to increase based on agency performance. We win and lose as a team and our bonus structure is no different.
Inclusion at The Black Sheep Agency
Yes, we’re a gathering of rebels. We’ve come together to change minds and accelerate impact for organizations and businesses that are leading communities toward a more equitable future. In our field of strategy, marketing and creative ideas, we know the playing field isn’t fair, and getting a dream job is easier for some than others.
We believe our ecosystem is strengthened through perspective and collaboration, and that can only happen when mentorship, leadership and career opportunities are open to all. We’re looking for go-getters and figure-it-outers— people who think beyond the ordinary list of awards and internships and tell the story of how they’ve transformed their professional life through personal initiative and creativity.
We don’t believe talent and expertise should look the same—ever. Tell us how you’ll join us in sparking an empowered and brilliant future for our communities. Be your own agent of change. We want to meet you.
