Social Media and Content Manager Job Description

From TikTok to #longreads, the Social Media and Content Manager at Black Sheep is responsible for creating and implementing on narrative threads as they emerge, as well as knowing how to bring cause-based brands into these stories. In this role, you turn ideas into visible engagement and activation. You have the ability to establish and grow a captive audience around a brand/campaign/cause and reinspire and nurture existing audiences. With creative team support, you strategically move from ideation to execution in a rapidly evolving digital climate, taking ownership over the writing and creating content for various digital channels.

You are ready to:

  • Concept and pitch strategic social campaigns and content plans with assistance from the Digital Director
  • Support the Digital team with copywriting and social media + content implementation
  • Manage the day-to-day community management and audience engagement for both Black Sheep social profiles and any client channels
  • Actively study the digital landscape and contribute to thought leadership and client mentorship that showcases new tools, tech and trends
  • Collaborate with members of the Digital, Creative and Strategy teams to build tactics, social programs and content strategy for our clients and brand

Your day might include:

  • Building content plans and crafting content for digital strategies for clients in collaboration with the digital director
  • Providing strategic recommendations for clients and the Black Sheep brand regarding platform adoption, content and posting strategy and KPIs
  • Partnering across departments to achieve brand/campaign/initiative goals to deliver awareness, brand impressions, engagement and traffic across all digital channels
  • Managing the launch period of a client’s digital campaign or the initial rollout of a new or evolved brand to demonstrate the full potential of the concept and narrative with the anticipation of transferring responsibility to an in-house team
  • Managing digital communities including proactive comment response and community engagement across platforms
  • Crafting content for email campaigns
  • Writing and editing copy for agency social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tiktok), working closely with the Digital and brand teams
  • Managing Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok content calendars, including posting and monitoring overall performance
  • Cementing success in the numbers with accurate data reporting
Job Requirements

Below is a description of the traditional experience that can lead to strength in this role, but we are background agnostic and value candidates with different and unique work histories.   • 3-5 years relevant experience in which you have concepted, developed, planned and managed social media and digital content for brands and organizations at an agency or in another fast-paced environment
  • Strong, concise, creative writing skills
  • Proven creative thinking and ideation 
  • Knowledge of paid versus organic social media strategy and many different social media platforms
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details like spelling, grammar, punctuation and style
  • Advanced communication skills, including both written (documents and presentations) and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle managing 6-10 projects simultaneously
  • Location: Remote, but located within North America

Salary Range

$55,000 to $75,000

Open-Book Management and Bonus Compensation

From the inception of Black Sheep, we've made a conscious effort to always keep people as the central focus of our growth strategy. As a team we practice open-book management and huddle weekly to discuss our financial trajectory. We pay out quarterly bonuses to the team based on specified quarterly agency targets. Team members are currently averaging 12% of their annual salary in bonus annually with potential to increase based on agency performance. We win and lose as a team and our bonus structure is no different.
