New mission. New office. New brand. Black Sheep is making changes at the speed of light. As we evolve, we’re looking for more: More ways to support the community, more ways to collaborate and more ways to promote those doing good work. That includes Blank Slate, our beloved monthly chalkboard mural series.

A series to showcase local artists, Blank Slate is evolving with Black Sheep’s new mission—morphing into a new way to look at people making great art and making an impact.

With this physical blank slate, we can, quite literally, draw out our plans for the future.

Our most important goal? To continue to celebrate Houston’s dynamic, diverse and damn-exciting art scene, promote local artists and create a space for people with the passion to get their message seen. Know anyone that fits that bill? Send ‘em our way.

While Blank Slate is only one small component of what Black Sheep does, any “small” project can have a huge impact. All it takes is wiping the slate clean, thinking about what’s been done and envisioning a new future. Whether it’s for yourself, your business or that passion project you’ve wanted to dig yourself into, don’t be afraid to recast the mold for yourself. Blank Slate: Refreshing the Paint

Looks delicious, right? A frosty beverage to celebrate a day of diversity and Hispanic heritage at one of our favorite local bars, The Honeymoon. A special Cinco de Mayo treat—Black Sheep style.

If you saw our Instagram post, you’d know that there are five of these puppies waiting at the bar for those lucky enough to notice. Starting this month, we’ll be giving out our version of a #High5 to the first five folks on Instagram to answer our call—and they better be quick, ‘cause the stuff we’re giving away won’t last long.

Today, it’s margaritas for the first five to show up at The Honeymoon and show the bartender our Instagram post. Next month it might be a donut from our current obsession, Hugs & Donuts, or a bag of goodies handed out by the flock at one of our favorite parks.

Why are we doing this? Because we like you. Because we like to support local businesses and we like to celebrate tiny victories. It’s the small tokens of appreciation that keep us all going and we want to share that with YOU. As we said, you’re pretty neat and you deserve a little treat. Yes, that did rhyme and no, we’re not embarrassed.

So, treat yourself. Follow us on Instagram, then jump into action when you see #High5 show up in one of our photo’s captions. Will a margarita be waiting for you at The Honeymoon? Only time will tell. Better get going before someone beats you to it. If not, there’s always next time—if you get there fast enough.
