Are You a B Corp? Then We Should Be Your Agency
Five years ago, we became a B Corporation. In the years between then and now, we’ve proudly lauded our B Corp status when we talk about our agency—and why wouldn’t we? That status represents a measurable commitment to our people, community and planet. To be awarded with this recognition, your business’s entire social and environmental performance is evaluated. Everything from your volunteer hours to client roster, employee benefits to community impact is calculated and analyzed.
It’s become an indelible part of who we are as a company and we’re happy to say that we just finished the B Impact Assessment to maintain our B Corp Certification earlier this month (stay tuned to learn more about that soon!). Fundamentally, the B Corp certification offers us a chance to take a stark look at The Black Sheep Agency. It forces us to affirm what we care about (our people, our cause-based creative, our community) and ensure that our actions align with our mission. It challenges us to put process in place behind the ideals that matter to us—like equity, diversity and inclusion and employee wellness—so we can be held accountable and mark our success in meeting these goals. It’s a way for us as an agency to show up for what we stand for.
And if you’re a business or organization that also reps the B Corp promise, then we stand for you, too.
Now, perhaps more than ever, we know that consumers are looking to brands to match their own personal values. In 2020, roughly 70% of consumers said they feel it’s important for brands to take a stand on public issues. If you’re a B Corporation, you’re already way ahead of the curve on this one, since so much of the evaluation process determines your business’s positive impact and you already choose to balance purpose and profit. But we’re putting out the call to say: pick partners who do, too. Work with a creative agency who is doing the same, who supports your organization as an unstoppable force for good and wants to push you even further.
